Howard Terpning

Howard Terpning is the foremost painter of Native Americans. He is approaching his mid 90’s and is still painting. Mr Terpning was a prolific illustrator of movie posters such as “The Sound of Music”, “Dr Zhivago”, and the remake of “Gone With the Wind” until the mid seventies, when he made the switch to fine art particularly the Plains Indians. He went on to win numerous prestigious awards and is a world renowned artist. It is not uncommon for his original paintings to sell for over a million dollars which puts him in a very elite group. He is known as the “Story Teller of the Native American.” His art prints are a great investment as pieces that sold for a few hundred dollars decades ago are now worth thousands.

At Big Sky Images and Collectibles we have an impressive display of Howard Terpning’s artwork; most likely the largest exhibit in Montana, and growing all the time. You can purchase vintage paper prints, canvas prints, or giclee museum grade prints, framed or unframed, that not only tell the Native American History, but also are a great investment as Mr. Terpning’s art appreciates in value as much or more than that of any artist living today.
